Undergraduate Student, exp 2017 Chemical Biology

In the Clark Lab, I 
conducted directed evolution of an industrially relevant enzyme, Cel7A, a cellulosic enzyme used in biofuels treatment. I analyzed the active site of the enzyme and conduct point mutations in an attempt to improve substrate specificity and reduce product inhibition. In this project, I used computational models to determine ways in which an enzyme could be improved and conducted wet lab experiments to verify such models. 

I currently work on projects in the Elcin Unal Lab and the David Schaffer Lab. In the Unal Lab, my work focuses on understanding important proteins in meiosis and defects that lead to tumor formation. In the Schaffer Lab, I work on evolving a more effective variant of AAV for use in glioblastoma treatment.
